Nigeria 5 Sudan 0 (Agg 5-1): Olympics Eagles qualify for 2019 Africa U23 Nations Cup
Nigeria men’s U-23 team has booked a place in the 2019 Africa U23 Nations Cup.
The Dream Eagles were too good for their opponents from Sudan as they scored five unreplied goals at the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba in the second leg of the last Africa U-23 Nations Cup qualifiers on Tuesday.
Goals from Taiwo Awoniyi, a brace from Ndifreke Effiong, a goal Faleye Sunday and a nice finish from the 2019 NPFL joint top scorer Sunusi Ibrahim completed a 5-0 win for a 5-1 aggregate win against the Sudanese.
Olympics Eagles secure qualification for the 2019 Africa U23 Nations Cup billed for Egypt in November where qualification for 2020 Olympics will be decided.
Nigeria U-23 are the defending champions. The competition is held every four years with the top three teams qualifying automatically to the Olympic Games and the fourth-placed finisher playing in a play-off against a team from the Asian Football Confederation.
