‘ Nigeria will be very tough ‘ – England star Lauren James confesses ahead of World Cup last-16 clash

England star Lauren James has confessed Nigeria will be a very tough opposition ahead of their 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup last-16 clash.

England face the Super Falcons of Nigeria in Brisbane on Monday August 7 for a place in the World Cup quater-final, a challenge, James knows will be difficult for the Lioness.

She said ” Nigeria is going to be very tough, to be fair every team has been tough, even watching the other games.

” Teams are catching up with each other and I know that will be another very difficult game, James said. As quoted by englandfootball.com.

Her comments notwithstanding, it is England that will start the game at the Lang Park Stadium as favourites on Monday.

At the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup as in pre tournament engagements, the Lioness have ruthlessly dispatched opponents and are current European Champions.

A 6-1 spanking of China confirmed their place as Group D leaders to setup the last-16 clash vs Nigeria who finished runners-up in group B.

The status and form of Chelsea star Lauren James is enough to strike panic in the Super Falcons camp, her three goals and same number in assists place her as second best on the goals chart at the Women’s World Cup.

For Nigeria, an unbeaten group stage has raised the stakes as seen in the comments by England’s star girl Lauren James.

If they go on to stun the Lioness, it will be a record equalling quater-final spot for Nigeria, the first in 1999, during what was a golden-era for the Super Falcons.

Like in every football game, the action and goals will determine who emerges victorious and that will be the case when England and Nigeria , face-off in the commonwealth clash at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
