Nigerian striker Emmanuel Dennis reveals Emmanuel Adebayor role in Istanbul Basekeshir move
Nigerian striker Emmanuel Dennis has revealed the role ex Togo international Emmanuel Adebayor played in his decision to join Istanbul Basekeshir.
Dennis on Friday September 15, was confirmed a player of Turkish Super Ligue club Istanbul Basekeshir, on a season long loan from English Premier League side Nottingham Forest FC.
The forward was frozen out at Nottingham Forest and so sought a move away in search of game time.
After failing to ink a move till the close of transfers in the English Premier League, Dennis explored options in Turkey and had a decision to make with Adana Demirspor and Istanbul Basekeshir interested.
He joined Istanbul Basekeshir and in his first interview published on the Turkish clubs website, shared how his experience with the clubs former African hitman contributed to his choice.
” My first encounter with Başakşehir was when Club Brugge played against them in qualification for the Champions League,” Dennis told the club’s official website.
” My big brother, Emmanuel Adebayor, played the game as well, so we had a conversation after the game and he invited me later to Istanbul.
“I met him here, we relaxed, went to his house together, spent the whole day together. He told me a few things about the club.
“It was just in my head and then recently I received a message from my agent that the club were interested in me.
“I said it’s a nice place, I’m familiar with them because I’ve been to the stadium, I have played against them, I’ve had few friends who played here, they always tell me good stories about the people, the club, so I decided to come here.” Dennis said.
As he hopes to revive his career in Turkey, Emmanuel Dennis will wear jersey number 99 at Istanbul Basekeshir.
