Nigerians Abroad: Osimhen, Sadiq, Nwakaeme, & Alhassan included in top 10

It was a great day at the office for Victor Osimhen, Umar Sadiq, and a host of other Nigerian footballers plying their trades outside the country.

They scored goals for their various clubs across the globe in twos, and ones over the weekend.

A few were on the losing side but in this article, we will focus on the 10 best from the game.

10. Maduka Okoye (Sparta Rotterdam 1-0 Go Ahead Eagles

Super Eagles goalie Maduka Okoye was solid again as he helped Sparta Rotterdam to a 1-0 win against Go Ahead Eagles in a League game on Sunday.

Maduka Okoye has now kept three clean sheets in his last four games.

9. Odion Ighalo (Al-Raed 1-0 Al-Hilal)

Odion Ighalo assisted the only goal of the game as Al-Hilal won 1-0 at the Al-Raed.

Saudi league top scorer Ighalo has now scored a total of 16 goals and assisted three goals in 23 games.

8. Taiwo Awoniyi (Union Berlin 1-1 Stuttgart)

Taiwo Awoniyi bounced back from scoring an own goal that handed Wolfsburg a 1-0 win against Union Berlin last week with a fine strike on Saturday.

The Super Eagles striker scored from the spot-kick in Union Berlin 1-1 draw against Stuttgart. He has now scored a total of 11 goals in 23 league games.

7. Alhassan Yusuf (Anderlecht 2-1 Antwerp)

Alhassan Yusuf scored Antwerp’s only goal in their 2-1 loss to Anderlecht in a league game.

The 21-year-old midfielder has scored three league goals in 23 league games.

6. Tosin Kehinde (Randers FC 2-1 Silkeborg)

Nigeria eligible Tosin Kehinde scored the opener as Randers FC secured a 2-1 home win against Silkeborg in a league game on Saturday.

The former Manchester United attacker has scored two goals, assisted three in seventeen league games for his Danish club.

5. Stephen Odey (Randers FC 2-1 Silkeborg)

Stephen Odey scored the second and winning goal for Randers FC in their 2-1 win against Silkeborg in a league game on Saturday.

The former MFM FC striker has scored 6 in 14 league games.

4. Cyriel Dessers (PEC Zwolle 1-2 Feyenoord)

Cyriel Dessers scored the decisive goal in Feyenoord 2-1 win at PEC Zwolle in an Eredivisie game on Sunday.

Fresh from his goal and assist in Feyenoord 5-2 away win against Partizan, Cyriel scored again on Sunday for his third consecutive goal in three successive games.

3. Anthony Nwakaeme (Trabzonspor 4-2 Goztepe)

Anthony Nwakaeme scored a powerful goal and assisted a goal to help Trabzonspor to a 4-2 win against Goztepe in a Turkish Super Lig game on Saturday.

He became the first Nigerian player this season with double figures in goal and assist after bagging his 11th goal and 10 assists in 23 league games.

2. Umar Sadiq (Almeria 3-3 Lugo)

Umar Sadiq scored his 14th and 15th league goal in Almeria’s 3-3 home draw against Lugo in a La Liga Smartbank game on Saturday.

The Super Eagles star has now scored 15 league goals in the 26 games to go one goal behind top scorer Christian Stuani.

1. Victor Osimhen (Verona 1-2 Napoli)

Victor Osimhen was the man of the moment once again as he scored a brace to lead Napoli to a 2-1 win over Hellas Verona in their Serie A clash on Sunday.

Osimhen has now scored 13 goals for Napoli in all competitions this season despite his injury problems. The Nigerian striker’s goals have put Napoli in second place, only three points behind leaders AC Milan.
