Nigerians Abroad: Victor Osimhen’s brace, Alex Iwobi, Emmanuel Dennis on target; Peter Olayinka, Yusuf Otubajo, Freddie Ladapo & David Okereke in action

There were a few Nigerian players involved on Wednesday as cup matches continued, League game and champions league qualifiers ended.

A handful found the back of the net, others progressed into the champions league group stages while others dropped into the Europa League spot.

Here is a recap of the performances by Nigerian players who were in action on Wednesday.

France

Victor Osimhen (Lille)

Victor Osimhen scored a brace in Lille’s 3-0 win against St. Etienne in a league game to increase his goal tally to four goals in three league games.

Carabao Cup

Alex Iwobi (Everton)

Alex Iwobi scored the third goal in Everton 4-2 win against Lincoln City in a Carabao Cup 2nd round clash on Wednesday.

The header is Alex Iwobi first goal for the Merseysiders.

Freddie Ladapo (Rotherham United)

Freddie Ladapo was on the pitch the entire time as Rotherham got bundled out of the Carabao Cup in the 2nd round by Sheffield Wednesday.

Champions League Qualifiers

Peter Olayinka (Slavia Prague)

Peter Olayinka was on the pitch the entire time as Slavia Prague secured a 1-0 win for 2-0 aggregate win against CFR Club in the champions league final qualifying round to book a place in the draw for the group stages.

Emmanuel Dennis, David Okereke (Club Brugge)

Emmanuel Dennis and David Okereke will be rubbing shoulders with the European big boys after securing a place in the group stages following their aggregate win against Lask Linz.

David Okereke fired blank before he was withdrawn for Emmanuel Dennis who scored the winning goal barely a minute after coming on. It ended 2-1 on the night but 3-1 in aggregate.

Yusuf Otubajo (Lask Linz)

Yusuf Otubajo was on the losing side as Lask Linz got knocked out of the 2019/20 Champions League game after defeat to Club Brugge.
