NPFL put on alert as CAF sets deadline for submission of club competition representatives

Ahead of the preliminary rounds of the CAF Champions League and CAF Confederations Cup, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has issued a deadline for member associations, including Nigeria, to submit the list of their representatives.

CAF initially informed member associations that the preliminary round would commence in August 2024.

According to an update from the CAF headquarters in Cairo, Egypt, the body has set June 15, 2024, as the deadline for participating countries to submit the names of the clubs that will represent them.

In Nigeria, the winners of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) and the runners-up will participate in the CAF Champions League. The second runners-up and the winners of the President Federation Cup will compete in the CAF Confederation Cup.

Action will resume in the NPFL this weekend after a one-month break, providing teams with a crucial opportunity to solidify their positions ahead of the CAF submission deadline.

Whereas the Nigeria Premier Football League will not conclude 2023/2024 season games before the set deadline, CAF will hand Nigeria additional window to complete games and send representatives before the end of June.
