Tijani Muhammed shines in Plymouth Argyle pre-season win

Former Flying Eagles of Nigeria forward Tijani Muhammed scored twice in Plymouth Argyle FC’s 5-2 win against Cheltenham. SportsRation reports.

Muhammed, on loan from Slavia Prague, showcased his striking prowess by netting the third goal in the first half and opening the scoring in the second half.

His contributions were crucial in securing the victory for the EFL Championship side. Other players who found the back of the net for Plymouth included Dutch forward Ibrahim Cissoko, England’s Morgan Whittaker, and Scotland’s Ryan Hardie.

Plymouth Argyle, now managed by former Manchester United forward Wayne Rooney, signed Tijani on a season-long loan with an option to buy. In an interview with OJB Sports, Tijani shared his surprise and excitement at being recruited by Rooney.

“Wayne Rooney is a football legend, not only in England but worldwide. As a striker, I believe it’s a good move for me, and he really influenced my decision. When he called, I was shocked and had to confirm it was really him. We had a great conversation, and I was convinced to join,” Tijani said.

Head Coach Wayne Rooney expressed his excitement about Tijani’s arrival, highlighting the Nigerian forward’s potential to strengthen the squad.

“Muhamed joining further strengthens our forward line, and he will bring different attributes to the squad,” Rooney said.

Tijani has quickly adapted to life in England, making a strong impression with his first brace for Plymouth Argyle. His performance in the 5-2 victory over Cheltenham indicates his potential to become a key player for the club this season.
