Top five Super Eagles stars from the weekend

Super Eagles players were in top form for their clubs as Nigeria prepare for a double heade AFCON qualifers games against Sierra Leone.

Semi Ajayi, William Troost-Ekong, Leon Balogun, Joe Aribo and Victor Osimhen whow are part of the invited Eagles stars for the games are our picks from the large number of Nigerian players across Europe.

5. Semi Ajayi (West Brom, England)

Semi Ajayi gave a good account of himself against one of the best Premier League goal scoring team on Sunday. The former Arsenal player was undone late in the goal by a looping Harry Kane header.

Semi Ajayi for the most part of the game kept Tottenham’s attackers who had scored 19 goals quiet with his timely tackles, interception and good understanding of the game.

4. Leon Balogun (Rangers, Scotland)

Super Eagles defender Leon Balogun returned into the starting line up and shored it up for Rangers in their 8-0 win against Hamilton in a Scottish League game on Sunday.

After missing out of his side’s 3-3 draw in the UEFA Europa League, Leon Balogun returned and helped Glasgow Rangers kept another clean sheet.

The former Brighton defender was on the pitch from the beginning until the end.

3. William Troost-Ekong (Watford, England)

Troost-Ekong was on target on Friday in Watford’s 3-2 win against Coventry in a Championship game. Ekong powered home a powerful header for his side’s equalizer at 2-2.

Before Ismaila Sarr scored from the spot kick for Watford’s winning goal.

The goal ended Ekong’s two-year wait for a club goal at Club level, and 17 months after scoring for the Super Eagles in 2019.

2. Joe Aribo (Rangers, Scotland)

Joe Aribo scored a brace to help Rangers secure an easy 8-0 win against Hamilton at the Ibrox Stadium in a Scottish Premiership game on Sunday.

The brace increased the midfielders goal tally to four in just seven league games.

1. Victor Osimhen (Napoli, Italy)

Victor Osimhen scored the only goal as Napoli win 1-0 at Bologna to continue their top form. The who was absent from Napoli’s Thursday UEL game due to suspension returned into the line up with a bang.

The former Lille striker headed home a pass from Irving Lozano for his second Serie A game of the season and another three points for Napoli.

Hopefully, these stars will carry their good forms in their respective European Clubs to the National team as Nigeria play Sierra Leone in AFCON qualifiers.
