Wolves stage comeback to pip 9 man Arsenal

Arsenal's unbeaten run ends at 7 games

Wolverhampton Wanderers hosted Arsenal in their English Premier League Matchday 22 encounter and defeated the Gunners by 2 goals to 1 at the Molineux Stadium.

Arsenal started the game brightly, hitting the post in the second minute through Bukayo Saka, before Saka found the net, only for VAR to rule out the goal for an offside. They eventually took the lead in the 32nd minute when Ivorian winger, Nicolas Pele drove a right-footed effort past Wolves keeper, Rui Patricio. Wolves were handed a lifeline when David Luiz upended Willian Jose, who was through on goal in the box, earning himself a controversial red card as well as a penalty to Wolves. Ruben Neves made no mistake from the spot in first half added time to equalise for his team. Wolves got themselves in front 4 minutes into the second half when Joao Moutinho scored an absolute belter from 25 yards to make it 2-1. Arsenal’s goalkeeper, Bernd Leno was sent off after he deliberately handled the ball outside his box in the 72nd minute.

The result ensures that Wolves complete the double over Arsenal, after having beaten them 2-1 at the Emirates already this season, and they move further away from the relegation battle in 14th place and are only 5 points behind 10th placed Arsenal.
