Asisat Oshoala eyes Paris Olympic Games medal with Super Falcons
Bay FC forward Asisat Oshoala is setting her sights on an Olympic medal with Nigeria’s Super Falcons at the upcoming games in Paris, France.
The Super Falcons have returned to the Olympics after missing consecutive games, and Oshoala is thrilled at the opportunity to participate in what will be her first Olympics.
Speaking to FIFA media, the African footballer of the year acknowledged that bookmakers have written them off but expressed confidence in causing an upset in France.
She said “At the World Cup last year, people said the same thing. They said we were in the Group of Death [with Australia, Canada, and the Republic of Ireland] and could not qualify. But we did.
” I have a lot of confidence in this team. We have many young players and we can make things difficult for our opponents. We don’t just think about getting out of the group; I think we can actually walk away with a medal,” Asisat Oshoala said of her targets for the Olympic games.
Nigeria faces a challenging draw in Paris 2024, where they will compete against Brazil, Japan, and Spain in Group C.
