Hermoso fires back after Rubiales ‘consensual kiss’ claims

The controversy involving Spanish FA president Luis Rubiales and Spanish player Jenni Hermoso shows no signs of resolution.

The incident took place during an awards and closing ceremony held to honor the Spanish national team after their 1-0 victory against England in the recently concluded final.

During the event, an incident caught the world’s attention as Luis Rubiales appeared to kiss Jenni Hermoso while the ceremony was in progress.

The incident has sparked widespread reactions globally, leading to calls for Luis Rubiales to step down from his position as the Spanish FA chairman.

In his defense, Rubiales denied any wrongdoing and stated that Jenni Hermoso had given her consent and even initiated the kiss.

He mentioned, “The kiss was consented. She (Jenni) was the one who lifted me up and brought me closer to her body. And I said to her: ‘a little bit?’ and she said, ‘okay’,” as reported by [@La_SER ].

After watching Rubiales’ press conference and his denial of any misconduct, Jenni Hermoso released a statement clarifying her stance, stating that she never consented to the kiss.

“I want to clarify that, as seen in the images, at no time did I consent to the kiss he gave me and, of course, in no case did I try to lift the president. I do not tolerate my word being doubted, much less making up words I have not said,” Hermoso stated.
