Injury forces Asisat Oshoala out of the ongoing WAFCON.

Super Falcons forward Asisat Oshoala will miss the rest of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations tournament following a MCL strain suffered during Nigeria’s 1-2 loss to South Africa.

Oshoala limped off in the 82nd minute with the Nigerian ladies trailing by 2 goals at the Stade Moulay Hassan in Morroco.

Reports from the Super Falcons camp indicate Oshoala sustained a grade 2 Medial collateral ligament strain and would not recover in time to participate in the ongoing WAFCON campaign.

Oshoala will head back to Spain on Thursday to begin treatment under the watch of FC Barcelona Fermini medics who have good knowledge of her medical history .

The Super Falcons will continue their WAFCON campaign with a must win clash vs Botswana .

Oshoala’s abscence leaves Head Coach Randy Waldrum and his crew with a decision on who will replace the reigning Africa women’s player of the year in the starting XI.

Francisca Ordega , Bayelsa Queens Striker Gift Monday, Vivian Ikechukwu , Uchenna Kanu and Chinonyerem Macleans are all attacking options available for Waldrum as the Super Falcons target a win to get Nigeria’s WAFCON campaign back on track.

Despite a below par performance vs South Africa ,  Asisat Oshoala remained a big part of the Super Falcons setup with her Pedigree and record as top scorer at two WAFCON editions a concern for opposition teams.
