Ace Broadcaster Mighty Goerge tips Akwa United to defeat Ikorodu City in crucial NPFL clash
Popular broadcaster George Iniabasi Essien, famously known as Mighty George, has backed Akwa United to claim a crucial victory against Ikorodu City today in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).
Speaking on Sunday, 27th April 2025, during the sports segment of his 100-hour Guinness World Record attempt for the longest talk show on radio at Comfort 95.1 FM Uyo, Mighty George expressed confidence in Akwa United’s ability to rise to the occasion.
“I will be rooting for Akwa United to win vs Ikorodu City. Of course, they have no choice than to win today,” Mighty George declared.
The 2021 NPFL champions have endured a difficult season and currently sit 18th on the table with 38 points from 34 matches, five points away from safety. With the season nearing its end, Akwa United know that anything short of a win could further endanger their slim survival hopes.
The matchday 34 fixture will see Akwa United host Ikorodu City at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo, with kick-off scheduled for 4:00pm.
