Thibaut Courtois has matched an old Iker Casillas record after his herioc in Real Madrid’s 2-0 win against relegation battlers Deportivo Alaves at Alfredo Di Stefano on Friday.

A first half penalty from Karim Benzema and a Marco Asensio second half strike sealed the 2-0 win for Zinedine Zidane’s side as they regained their four points lead over their title rivals Barcelona.

Although, Karim Benzema and Marco Asensio did the scoring it was Thibaut Courtois who kept his side in the game with saves to ensure his side take one step toward their title glory.

Thibaut Courtois kept his 18th clean sheets in 32 league games and his fifth consecutive clean sheets matching Ike Casillas record set in 2007/2008 season.

He has kept at least three more league clean sheets than any other goalkeeper in Europe’s top five divisions this season.
