Giannis powers Bucks to first NBA title in 50 years

Milwaukee Bucks’ Giannis Antetokounmpo was at his best as he led his side to a 105-98 victory over the Phoenix Suns in Game 6 of their NBA Finals series to secure a 4-2 win for the Bucks in the game, hence, crowning them as NBA Champions for the 2020/21 season.

Giannis, who suffered a nasty-looking injury during the Conference Finals, was part of the side as they lost the first two games of the Finals in Phoenix to go 2-0 down. Since Game 3, however, the Bucks have won four straight games to emerge victorious, with Giannis and Khris Middleton playing a central role in the victories. Giannis recorded 50 points with 14 rebounds and 5 blocks as he made telling contributions at both ends of the court, making him only the second man in history after Shaquille O’Neal to record three 40+ point and 10+ rebound games in the NBA Finals. Middleton recorded 17 points, with Bobby Portis contributing a further 16 points for the Bucks. Chris Paul led the scoring for the Suns with 26 points in the game.

The Bucks have now won only their second-ever NBA title, 50 years after winning their first one. Giannis was named the NBA Finals MVP, completing the personal awards collection in the NBA aged just 26. The Greek Freak has played all of his years in the NBA with the Milwaukee Bucks alongside Middleton since being drafted at 18 in 2013.
