#ITTFWorlds2021: Quadri beats Gnanasekaran in 7-set thriller to book a place in round 16

Aruna Quadri has secured a place in the last 16 at the 2021 ITTF World Table Tennis Championships Finals after a 7-set win against Sathiyan Gnanasekaran.

The highly rated African player continued his impressive run in Houston with a hard-fought win against the India.

Quadri won the first set 11-9 lost the second, third sets 7-11, 13-15.

He won the fourth set 11-3 lost the fifth set 4-11 before securing wins in the sixth and seventh sets 11-9 11-7 to advance.

Aruna Quadri won secured a 4-0 win in the first round game against Aliaksandr Khanin, 4-2 win against Vitor Ishiy in the round of 64 and now Sathiyan Gnanasekaran in round 32.

He will now face a tough opponent yet to be decided in the round 16.

This is the first time Aruna Quadri, 13t ranked player at the tournament is going beyond the round of 32 at the tournament.
