Simy Nwankwo equals Yakubu scoring record with goal for Crotone

Lanky forward has now scored 17 goals in Serie A

Simy Nwankwo scored a goal from the penalty spot as Crotone fell to a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Udinese in the Italian Serie A on Saturday as they remain rooted to the foot of the Serie A table.

Simy equalised for Crotone from the penalty spot after Rodrigo De Paul had given Udinese the lead, before De Paul scored a second to ensure that Udinese left with all three points from the game.

Simy Nwankwo has now scored in seven consecutive Serie A matches for Crotone, a remarkable feat when the league position of the club is considered. Simy has now scored 17 goals in the league this season, making him the first Nigerian striker to score 17 goals in a season in one of Europe’s top 5 leagues since Yakubu Aiyegbeni.
