Stan Kroenke increases majority Arsenal stake

American businessman Stan Kroenke has increased his majority shareholding in Arsenal.

Kroenke, who has been the club’s majority shareholder since 2011, acquired 23 ordinary shares for £368,000 through his company KSE UK Inc, it was announced under corporate disclosure on Thursday.

The deal takes his stake in the club to 67.05% despite unrest amongst supporters regarding the way he has run things during his time at the helm so far.

A number of fans protested against both Kroenke and manager Arsene Wenger after the Gunners missed out on the Premier League title to surprise winners Leicester City this season.

However, the protests were muted, with many supporters also voicing their support for Wenger at the same time during their match against Norwich City on April 30.

One of the sources of discontent stems from Arsenal’s apparent unwillingness to match their rivals’ spending, but the club did sign Granit Xhaka from Borussia Monchengladbach on a long-term deal earlier this week.
