2022 French Open Day Six: Djokovic, Nadal, Alcaraz cruise through

Gauff reaches second consecutive Round of 16

The 2022 French Open saw its sixth day of action, with several of the big guns in action at the Stade Roland Garros.

World number one Novak Djokovic continued in his quest to defend his French Open title by claiming a straight sets 6-3 6-3 6-2 win over unseeded Aljaz Bedene to book his place in the Round of 16 of the competition.

Record winner Rafael Nadal progressed to the Round of 16 of the 2022 French Open with a straight sets win over 26th seed Botic van de Zandschulp. The Spanish 5th seed won the third round meeting 6-3 6-2 6-4.

German third seed Alexander Zverev defeated unseeded Brandon Nakashima in straight sets 7-6 6-3 7-6 to qualify for the Round of 16 of the 2022 French Open.

Teenage sixth seed Carlos Alcaraz Garfia booked his place in the Round of 16 with a straight sets win over Sebastian Korda in their third round meeting, claiming a 6-4 6-4 6-2 win over the American.

Felix Auger-Aliassime qualified for the last 16 of the French Open after a 7-6 7-6 7-5 win over Filip Krajinovic in the third round.

18-year-old Coco Gauff qualified for her second straight French Open Round of 16 after a straight sets win over Estonia’s Kaia Kanepi. The American Gauff won 6-3 6-4 in straight sets.

Leylah Fernandez advanced to the Round of 16 after a win against Swiss star Belinda Bencic in the third round of the competition. Fernandez needed three sets to win 7-5 3-6 7-5 and progress to the next round.

Aliaksandra Sasnovich stunned Angelique Kerber in their third round meeting, claiming a straight sets win to qualify for the Round of 16. Sasnovich won 6-4 7-6 against the 21st seed.

Jil Teichmann sent Victoria Azarenka packing from the 2022 French Open in the third round after she came from a set down to win 4-6 7-5 7-6. The Swiss player has qualified for the Round of 16.

Sloane Stephens defeated French woman Diane Parry 6-2 6-3 in their third round meeting to book her place in the Round of 17 of the competition.
