Remo Stars Crowned NPFL Champions for the First Time
Remo Stars Sports Club of Ikenne have been crowned champions of the 2024/2025 Nigeria Premier Football League [NPFL], winning the title with three games left to play.
It has been a brilliant season for the Sky Blues, and a 1-0 home win against Niger Tornadoes on Sunday sealed their historic triumph. The victory means Coach Daniel Ogunmodede’s side are now 10 points clear of second-placed Rivers United.
Remo Stars needed a win to secure the title but were given a tough test by Niger Tornadoes, who are fighting to stay in the league. A late wonder goal from Adebayo was enough to hand the Sky Blues all three points and their first-ever NPFL trophy.
The victory came on a special day, as it also marked the birthday of the club’s president, Kunle Soname.
After finishing second in the league for two straight seasons, Remo Stars have finally achieved their dream of becoming champions of Nigeria’s top flight.
