After over 2 months of break, the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) 2016/2017 season which has been highly anticipated by loads of fans, commences on JANUARY 14TH as Kano Pillars hosts Ifeanyi Ubah at the
Sani Abacha stadium.

Last season was a beauty of a season and was really exciting for many fans in Nigeria. Many thanks must go to the LMC Chairman Shehu Dikko and the entire LMC body for the proper packaging and excitement.

Enugu Rangers of Enugu were champions for last season and truly deserved the title they won under Coach Imama Amapakabo’s tutelage.

They won the title and picked up CAF Champions League ticket alongside Rivers United who came 2nd on the Log. Wikki Tourist were 3rd and picked up CAF Confederations Cup ticket alongside Federations Cup winner Fc Ifeanyi Ubah.

Kano Pillars and FC IfeanyiUbah tie is the headline fixture of the Match Day One of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) for the 2016/2017 season.

Kano Pillars will have the honour of hosting the star match of Match Day One in Kano just like they did last season when they defeated Enugu Rangers 3-2 in a closely fought battle as they welcome the 2016 Federations Cup
champions, FC IfeanyiUbah, and Pillars would be looking to kick start the season with a win right in front of their fans.

Kano Pillars have brought back Veteran Nigerian Coach, Kadiri Ikhana, and have also signed players like Isah Danladi of Plateau United, Idris Aloma of Rivers United, Chinedu Udoji of Enyimba ahead of this season.

Ahead of the new season, Pillars new signing, Aloma believes his presence will be a blessing for the new season for Kano Pillars.

Idris Aloma is confident that his move to Kano Pillars will bring more blessings to the four-time Nigerian champions.
Aloma revealed that Sai Masu Gida have made endless move the past three years to secure his signature but he thinks now is the right time to be at the northern club.
“I am very happy to be here and i am humbled with the kind of welcome i got when i arrived in Kano and that is really inspiring,” Aloma said.
“This my state team and I’m proud to play for Kano Pillars. I believe that we shall win laurels in 2017 because I am blessed.
“I was at Enyimba Fc, we won the league and went to the continent, I left for Rivers United and we picked a continental ticket. That simply means that such blessings will rob off on Kano Pillars since I’m here.
“We have a strong squad that compete for honours. The fans are expectant and they show a lot of appreciation each time they see the team.
Star midfielder, Rabiu Ali also believes his team can win the league and even the Federations Cup. Isah Danladi also
tipping Pillars as favourites for the title.

Ifeanyi Ubah might not look so geared for this game, due to their earlier coaching problem, but they do certainly possess quality players to execute the game against Pillars. Former Sunshine stars goalie, Ikechukwu Ezenwa has joined Ubah, and Brazilian Alberico Da Silva and Tamen Medrano have what it takes to hurt Pillars.

This fixture last season in the league was evenly shared with Both teams winning at home, pillars won 2-1 at the
Sani Abacha stadium, and Ifeanyi Ubah won 2-0 at home. It’s going to be an interesting one for the fans, with the game having lots of goals written all over it. But Pillars should kick start the season with a win.

PREDICTION: KANO PILLARS 3-2 FC
IFEANYI UBAH
