NWFL week two summary: Edo Queens continue title defence march, Rivers Angels maintain shase with away point, Ibom Angels held at home
The 2024/25 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership continued to deliver exciting moments with Matchday Two games on Wednesday, January 22, 2025.

Defending champions Edo Queens secured a hard-fought 2-1 away victory over Heartland Queens in Owerri. Goodness Osigwe was the hero for Edo Queens, netting a brace in the 40th and 70th minutes, while Monica Mathew’s 48th-minute strike for Heartland Queens proved to be a consolation.
Dannaz Ladies secured a commanding 2-0 win over Confluence Queens in Lagos. Early goals from Zainab Raji and Omotoke Ogunfuwa in the first half sealed all three points for the home side. A first NWFL win for the debutants.
In Umuahia, Abia Angels cruised to a 3-0 victory against Nasarawa Amazons, with Merrit Offor, Dorothy Eshiet, and Chiamaka Ojilafor all getting on the scoresheet. The Angels were clinical, capitalising on Nasarawa’s defensive frailties.
Naija Ratels and Rivers Angels played out a thrilling 1-1 draw in a match broadcast live on NTA Sports and StarTimes. Rivers Angels took the lead through Chisom Nwachukwu just after the break, but Oladeji Oluwabunmi’s equaliser in the 50th minute ensured the points were shared.
FC Robo Queens edged Adamawa Queens 2-1 in Lagos, thanks to second-half goals from Favour Nkwocha and Opeyemi Ajakaye, with Tarfa Anastasia scoring earlier for Adamawa.
Delta Queens showcased their dominance with a 2-0 win over Benue Queens, courtesy of Princess Adam’s brace in the first half, solidifying their position as title contenders.
Remo Stars Ladies defeated Ekiti Queens 1-0 in Ikenne, with Olamide Bolaji scoring the decisive goal in a game also televised live.
Ibom Angels and Bayelsa Queens shared the spoils in a goalless encounter in Uyo. Despite a spirited performance from both sides, neither could break the deadlock.
