European champions, Bayern Munich defeated CONCACAF champions, Tigres UANL in the final of the FIFA Club World Cup in Qatar by a scoreline of 1-0 to emerge as world champions for the second time in 8 years.
It took all of 59 minutes before the European champions finally found an opener, with French fullback, Benjamin Pavard scoring his first ever cup goal for Bayern Munich to give them the lead. Tigres barely laid a glove on Bayern all evening in what ended up being a very comfortable 1-0 win for the Germans.
After winning the Club World Cup, Hansi Flick’s Bayern Munich side have emulated Pep Guardiola’s Barcelona class of 2011 in being the only teams in history to hold six major titles at once, as they hold the Bundesliga, UEFA Champions League, DFB Pokal, German Super Cup, UEFA Super Cup and now the FIFA Club World Cup. Manager Hansi Flick has now won 6 trophies with Bayern Munich after he replaced Niko Kovac as manager, losing only 5 games in his time at Bayern Munich so far.
