CAF releases African Schools Football Championship zonal qualifiers schedule
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) have released the calendar for the 2024-25 African Schools Football Championship.
This youth football tournament, organized through CAF’s Member Associations Division, will see CAF’s six Zonal Unions participate, starting in November 2024.
The WAFU Zone B championship will be held in Niger, while Tanzania will host the Council of East and Central African Football Association (CECAFA) version. Gabon will host the Union of Central Africa Football Federation (UNIFFAC) zonal competition. Namibia has been named as the host country for the Council Southern Africa Football Associations (COSAFA), with Egypt serving as the host for the Union Nord Africaine de Football (UNAF). Gambia will host the West African Union UFOA Zone A (WAFU).
The CAF African Schools Football Championship will kick off with the WAFU A edition between November 11 and 17, 2024. The WAFU A Zone will then be followed by CECAFA (December 2-8), UNIFFAC (December 2-8), COSAFA (November-December, dates TBC), UNAF (December 14-20), and WAFU B (November 18-24) to close off the Zonal Qualifiers ahead of the continental phase set to take place between April 28 and May 4, 2025.
This championship is a significant initiative by CAF to promote youth football development across the African continent, providing young talents with the platform to showcase their skills.
