William Troost-Ekong: Super Eagles Vice-Captain Models New Jersey Ahead of Charity Match
Super Eagles vice-captain William Paul Troost-Ekong MON has recently made headlines for his off-the-field activities. The 30-year-old defender showcased his new limited edition jersey on social media, creating a buzz among fans.
The jersey, featuring a green and black theme, is a special edition with only 200 pieces available. Proceeds from the jersey sales will go to support the Troost Ekong Foundation.
Ekong shared photos of the new jersey along with a message, saying, “TEF FAN JERSEY 💚📣 PRE-ORDER ON shoptroostekongfoundation. LIMITED EDITION 200 AVAILABLE. PROCEEDS GO TO SUPPORT THE FOUNDATION.”
Troost-Ekong also announced his return to Nigeria at the end of the season to host a charity match. The match, scheduled for June 2, 2024, at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, will mark the launch of the Troost Ekong Foundation. This event is set to gather fans and supporters to contribute to a worthy cause.
Despite suffering a ruptured biceps femoris in his right leg during the Super Eagles’ second group match at AFCON 2023 against Côte d’Ivoire, Troost-Ekong showed resilience. He underwent minor surgery in Finland on February 27, 2024, and missed the remainder of the season. Nonetheless, he led the Super Eagles to the AFCON 2023 final, where they were narrowly defeated 2-1 by Ivory Coast.
Ekong’s charity match comes just ahead of Nigeria’s crucial World Cup qualifier against South Africa’s Bafana Bafana. As the Super Eagles prepare for this important fixture, the charity event highlights Troost-Ekong’s commitment to giving back to the community and inspiring future generations.
