UCL: Olayinka on target; Osimhen caged, Okereke, Bonaventure fire blank, Idowu & Onuachu stars

Not the best of nights for Nigerian players who played in the champions league matchday 1 games on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Peter Olayinka grabbed the headline for his strike on Tuesday in Slavia Prague 1-1 draw at the Giuseppe Meazza stadium.

Peter Olayinka who was unplayable on the day became just the second Nigerian player after Yakubu Aiyegbeni to score on his Champions League debut.

Both David Okereke and Dennis Bonaventure were in action in as Galatasaray forced Club Brugge to a goalless draw.

Paul Onuachu came on in the last minutes of second half in Genk’s 6-2 away loss to Salzburg.

His compatriot Stephen Odey was not even listed for the game.

Ajax defenders did a good job stopping Victor Osimhen from making an signing contribution. Ajax put three past Lille in the game.

Brian Idowu came on late in the game as Locomotiv Moscow 2-1 win against Bayer Leverkusen.
